Reach Studio Pro 4K CL580

Reach Studio Pro 4K CL580 is an 8-channel 4K recorder: eight HDMI inputs, H.265 / H.264 encoding, five-picture composition and RTSP streaming.

Product introduction

Reach Studio Pro 4K CL580 is an eight-channel 4K recorder for conference rooms, lecture halls, training centres and event spaces. It is a single 1U appliance that takes eight 4K HDMI sources, encodes them, records them and publishes them — the recording runs on the appliance itself, with no capture card and no PC in the room.

All eight inputs accept 3840 × 2160 @ 30 and also 1080p @ 60 / 50 / 30 / 25, so 4K cameras and existing HD laptops can share the same recorder. Encoding is H.265 or H.264, audio is AAC, and every session is written as a standard MP4 file — one file per input in cinema mode, or one composed file when the layout is built live.

Layouts are composed from the PC director platform: up to five pictures on screen, switched while the recording keeps running. The live picture leaves on two HDMI outputs — HDMI OUT 1 at 3840 × 2160 @ 30 or 1920 × 1080 @ 60, HDMI OUT 2 at 1920 × 1080 @ 60 — for the room display and a confidence monitor.

Recordings land on 2 TB of internal storage and can be uploaded automatically to a third-party FTP server or to the Reach Flow Campus-Media center Pro, copied to a USB device, or downloaded from the web interface. Live sessions go out as standard RTSP or RTMP streams at 4K or 1080p, and the same web interface serves the live preview and the on-demand playback.

How it connects

A CL580 sits between the sources in the room and the places the session has to reach. The three steps below are the whole signal path.

01  SOURCES

Up to eight 4K sources

Pan-tilt cameras, a room PC, a document camera and a video-conferencing codec all connect to the eight HDMI inputs — 4K @ 30 or 1080p @ 60. Cameras are moved from the CL580 over RS-232, and room sound enters on the line and microphone inputs.

02  RECORD

One appliance, one file set

The CL580 encodes every input with H.265 or H.264 and writes MP4 files to its 2 TB disk — each input separately in cinema mode, or the composed layout in composite mode. A file note and a one-click repair keep the archive readable.

03  PUBLISH

Room display, stream, platform

HDMI OUT 1 and OUT 2 feed the room display and a confidence monitor; RTSP and RTMP streams carry the session to the campus site and remote viewers; FTP upload or the Reach Flow Campus-Media center Pro takes the file off the appliance for long-term storage.

Key features

1Eight 4K HDMI inputs

  • Eight HDMI inputs accept 3840 × 2160 @ 30 and record all eight sources at the same time.
  • 1080p @ 60 / 50 / 30 / 25 sources are accepted on the same inputs, so existing HD cameras and laptops work alongside 4K equipment.

2H.265 or H.264 4K encoding

  • Choose H.265 or H.264 for the 4K encode — H.265 where the network or the storage budget is tight, H.264 where the editing or publishing tool chain is older.
  • Audio is encoded as AAC and every recording is written as a standard MP4 file that plays in any player.

3Cinema or composite recording

  • Cinema mode records each input as its own full-resolution picture, so the editor keeps every camera angle.
  • Composite mode records the composed layout the room sees — useful when the recording goes straight to an archive or a streaming platform.
  • Both modes run on the same appliance, so a session can be archived in full and published composed.

4Five-picture composition

  • Pictures are laid out and switched live from the PC director platform while recording continues — no re-encode, no interruption.
  • Layouts from a full-screen camera to a five-picture composition, with camera presets recalled from the same interface.

5Dual HDMI outputs

  • Two HDMI outputs carry the live picture: HDMI OUT 1 up to 3840 × 2160 @ 30 or 1920 × 1080 @ 60, HDMI OUT 2 at 1920 × 1080 @ 60.
  • Drive the room display and an overflow or confidence monitor without an external splitter.

6Audio inputs chosen in the web interface

  • Two line inputs (terminal block and 3.5 mm), one microphone input (RCA) and two line outputs — the active source is selected in the web interface and mixed into the recording.
  • Audio embedded in the HDMI inputs can also be recorded and passed to the outputs; the function is switched on in the web interface.

7RTSP and RTMP live streaming

  • RTSP over TCP or UDP and RTMP over TCP, at 4K or 1080p.
  • RTMP pushes HD and SD streams at the same time, so a live channel can serve both the campus site and remote viewers.
  • The web interface also offers a live preview and on-demand playback of the recorded files.
  • Connected to the Reach Flow Campus-Media center Pro, the same recorder publishes the session live and serves it on demand from the platform.

8Recording files that survive a session

  • Every file can carry a note, so a session is found later by topic rather than by timestamp.
  • A one-click repair function recovers a recording that was interrupted — power loss, a pulled cable or a stopped encoder.
  • Files are browsed, searched, downloaded and deleted from the web interface, and exported to a USB device or over FTP.

9Storage and export

  • 2 TB internal storage as standard; recordings are also uploaded automatically to a third-party FTP server or to the Reach Flow Campus-Media center Pro.
  • Five USB ports (two USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 on the rear, one on the front) take USB flash drives and USB hard disks for export.

10Web, director software or third-party control

  • Configured from the web interface; operated live from the PC director platform.
  • RS-232 on the rear terminal block drives up to three pan-tilt cameras — slow, medium and fast movement, zoom and stored presets — and one group is reserved for a third-party or CS100 control panel.
  • Embedded Linux appliance: no PC in the room, no operating-system updates in the middle of a semester.
