Reach Edge Node ENC1200PE

Reach Edge Node ENC1200PE is a dedicated hardware HD encoder for Reach Edge distributed recording: one HDMI input up to 4K with HDMI loop-out, H.264 CBR encoding from 512 kbps to 8192 kbps, RTSP and Reach EncoderManager streaming, plus RS232 camera control and a 2-inch information display.

Product introduction

Reach Edge Node ENC1200PE is a dedicated hardware encoder that turns an HDMI source into an IP stream — the capture node of a Reach Edge distributed recording system. Camera video, PC / presentation content and microphone audio are encoded at the room edge and delivered over the standard IP network to a Reach Edge recording server, so a single server can record many rooms without a recorder in each one.

The chassis is compact: two ENC1200PE units can be mounted side by side in a standard rack. A 2-inch display on the front shows the device IP address and version, and two indicators report signal presence and system status at a glance.

On the network side the encoder speaks standard RTSP as well as the Reach private EncoderManager protocol, so it works with Reach Edge recording servers, the video management platform and the supervision platform — and can feed no fewer than two meeting rooms at the same time.

System connection

An HD camera and a PC / presentation source feed the encoder over HDMI. The encoder delivers the encoded stream to the IP network over its LAN port and reaches the Reach Edge recording server and the management platform; viewers watch live or on demand from the recording server. The camera is controlled from the encoder over the RS232 control cable.

Reach Edge Node ENC1200PE system connection: HD camera and PC signal into the encoder over HDMI, encoder to the IP network over LAN cable, Reach Edge recording server and management platform on the network, camera controlled over RS232

System connection — HDMI sources in, IP stream out to the Reach Edge recording server and management platform, RS232 camera control.

Key features

14K HDMI capture with loop-out

  • 1 × HDMI input up to 3840 × 2160 @ 30 / 25 fps, down to 1280 × 720 @ 25, in both I and P signal formats.
  • 1 × HDMI loop-through output lets a local monitor or projector show the same picture without extra distribution hardware.

2Audio in, audio out

  • 1 × Line-In or the audio embedded in the HDMI signal; audio is looped out on the HDMI output.
  • A DIP switch selects the input audio source, so the same unit covers line-level and embedded-audio rooms.

3H.264 encoding, CBR streaming

  • H.264 encoding with CBR rate control, adjustable from 512 kbps to 8192 kbps at 30 / 25 fps.
  • Encoding resolutions up to 1920 × 1080, with 1280 × 720, 704 × 576 and 352 × 288 for lighter streams.

4Open protocols, distributed recording

  • Standard RTSP streams plus the Reach private EncoderManager protocol.
  • Connects to Reach Edge distributed recording servers and to the video management platform; a single encoder serves no fewer than two meeting rooms at the same time.

5Camera remote control

  • RS232 camera-control port (RS485 reserved) drives pan, tilt and zoom from the encoder.
  • PTZ control is available from the web page, from the video management platform and from ReachPlayer.

6Subtitle, time and bilingual interface

  • Subtitle settings, time synchronisation and an optional on-screen time display.
  • Web interface in Chinese or English, so the same hardware fits local and international teams.

7Embedded platform, easy to deploy and maintain

  • Embedded operating system on dedicated hardware — stable, and quick to bring into service.
  • Compact chassis: two units fit side by side in a standard rack; the 2-inch display shows IP address and version.
  • Web-based configuration of encoding resolution, frame rate, bit rate and I-frame interval; firmware upgrade, downgrade and reboot are all done from the web page.

8Reset and recovery

  • A reset button restores the system: power the unit on, hold reset for about 5 seconds, and after the reboot the IP address returns to the default 192.168.5.188.
  • Connect a computer directly to the encoder on the same subnet, open the web page and set the new IP address.
